Hotel Thessaloniki

Can anyone recommend a hotel in Thessaloniki? Is there a crew hotel rate available in Thessaloniki?

Used to stay in the Classical Makedonia Palace. Its 5 star, dunno what the crew rate was but we sure as heck didn't pay full price. There is a shortage of non smoking rooms but hey thats Greece. Overall was a good hotel, food was fine short walk along the shore to the pubs. Some good bars in Thes, traffic is a nightmare, allow an hour minimum from the airport to the town. Try to pre-arrange transport as the first couple of stops we did we were getting cabs (allow another hour for the cab que) and the standard of driving was shocking. After we got organised with a regular driver it was fine.

Oh and if your looking for a last pint late at night on your way back to the hotel and you stagger into the "bar rendezvous" don't be surprised if they have no idea what beer is....its not that sort of bar

I would endorse Daysleeper's suggestion. Other hotels (HI for example), are in the noisy centre or far away from SKG itself.

I suggest Hyatt Thessaloniki: excellent hotel, close to the airport (ten minutes driving) but far from the city; quiet, relaxing, with pool, tennis, squash, wellness etc.An excellent 5 star hotel with its own casino. In 2003 the rate for airlines was around 70 € per night.
And once you are there you don't need to go to downtown.
