CA/AZ/NE in the beginning of June

Hi,

I'm doing a road-trip around California, Arizona & Nevada in the first two weeks of June. What would you recommend seeing?

Interesting in the usual aviation stuff like Museums etc but would especially like a small-town airshow or something similar to experience the grass roots side of aviation.

Cheers

You might check the Air Force Thunderbirds and Navy Blue Angels website for their airshow schedule and check if either of them will be in those states during June. That will cue you in as to where the major airshows will be.
In Arizona they have 1) Lufthansa's flight training center in Goodyear and Sabena flight training in Scottsdale ( both suburbs of Phoenix). In northern Aizona at Grand Canyon Airport is the location of the Ford Trimotor (www.valleairport.com), where you an obtain a type rating in a Ford Tri-motor.
Most of the general aviation airports have local aviation newspapers that provide activities of upcoming events in their area.

CA AZ NE road trip

The Grand Canyon is a marvel to see from land but much more appreciated from the air, especial for an avaitor. Scenic Airlines out of LAS or Grand Canyon Airlines at the Grand Canyon tuseyan airport both use the Twin Otter with there modified picture windows. The otters flaps are like barn doors and give the appearance of the aircraft hovering when depolyed....really really cool advantage of the canyon. Taking a flight through Momument Canyon worth the adventure. South of Phoenix is Tuscon,Az offering a ballistic silo museum, while Marana,Az has the largest gathering of aircraft either stored or decommission by US and international carriers. Within the Phoenix metro area is the city of Chandler. There you will find Chandler Air Service...www.aerobatics.com offer lots of fun flying experience. check out their website, the owner and chief instructor are fabulous aerobatic instructors. Anything you do in AZ or NE in June should be done early in the day to avoid the heat. If your driving make sure to carry enough fluids for the car and yourselve and passenger in case of a breakdown. Check you vechicles fluid levels and tire pressures the heat is waring on rental cars. Have fun....becareful....avoid our traffic cameras and traffic tickets.....
