Dallas

Hi there.

It depends on what you are after. Dallas downtown is not one of the worlds most funny places to stay. Are you attending anything at Simuflite I would recommend one of the suites over at Grape Vine mall, then you have the possibility to catch a movie or do some time wasting time in the mall.

Ages since I've been there. There wasn't really that much to do.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, there are some superb steakhouses but afraid I have no idea about what's hot these days.

When I'm in a strange town I often chat to some of the hotel staff and see what they do. NOT the concierges since they often get a bung from bars/restaurants who they send people to.

Rent a Car, go to Fort Worth to Billy Bobs, have a nice (not great) steak and a Trail Dust Steakhouse. Go to Arlington to catch some grown-up cricket at Texas Stadium. Good mexican food at Mercado Juarez, there a few around the cities. Sonny Bryans barbeque http://www.sonnybryans.com/

Must go to Bone Daddys BBQ, close to Grapevine, much better than Hooters, proper eye candy.

If you would like to see something 'different' try one of those:
  • The Sixth Floor: John F. Kennedy And The Memory of a Nation - Exhibition about life and death of a well known U.S. President (located in the 6th floor of the County Administration Building at Dealey Plaza)
  • C.R. Smith Museum - American Airlines Museum, lots of aviation stuff on display (located between Dallas and Fort Worth a Highway 360/FAA Road, open Thursday to Sunday 10AM-06PM, free entry)
  • State Fair Park - With a Train Museum, Aquarium, Museum of Natural History, Hall of State and The Science Place
