With an evening in Patpong, you'll be able to combine both!

Well, i`m in Bangkok right now so i can tell you exactly what to expect!! Ha Ha!
Use the Bts for MBK centre, good shopping good food at the food courts on floors 5 and 6. The cinemas there and at the adjacent Paragon centre are good. For marine wildlife check out the Aquarium at MBK too.
If there is more than one of you its as cheap to use a taxi but know exactly where you want to go to before you get in. Never let the driver take you somewhere he recomends as they get money from clubs bars and gem shops to take you to them instead of where you want. As soon as you get in a cab tell the driver to put on the meter. This is particularly important when going to the airport, they will ask for 600-800 baht, the true cost is about 250-300 from the airport and about 180-250 to get there.
Patpong, Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza are essential nightlife must sees but if you are looking for something a little less full on try the disco downstairs at Novotel.
If you actually meant real wildlife try a walk i Lumpini Park , its on the BTS, buy a couple of cheap hamburgers to feed the monitor lizards, they are bloody huge. Have a good trip!!!!

Excellent Bangkok Tour Guide

Hi All, I have just returned from a holiday in Thailand and whilst in BKK I used a lady called Nancy who was recommended by TOUCHDOWN (The Staff Travel company based near LGW).

Nancy gave us a particularly good tour of BKK and the palaces/ places of interest, she speaks fluent english and is 100% trustworthy/reliable unlike a lot of Thai's in the tourist / taxi game around BKK. We also used her to take us out to the floating market which is some 70 miles (ish!) from BKK city centre which was a great day out and she combined it with some other places of interest that we could select ourselves so we weren't taken to the common "tourist traps".

Anyway, I have used Nancy's services on two separate trips to BKK in the last four years and she is a great help, especially after the long flight over to BKK, to find that the transfer is all organised on arrival is great.

Her details are as follows:-

MISS A PUTIVISARTPARK " NANCY" TO YOU AND I!
EMAIL:- [email address]
Mobile:- 0066 814934556

I hope this info helps anyone who is visiting BKK in the future.

Cheers, AEUENG

If u have 4 days in bangkok, it's worthwhile catching a plane and goin to Phuket. about an hour's flight away and what a great place to see. great nightlife and lots of restaurants to eat from.. plus the daily tour they have to various islands which are breathtaking.. but bargain though with every price..enjoy

Or you could just get a taxi or BTS across town to Ekkamai bus station and take the 80 min ride to Pattaya for 118 baht. If you can`t find what you want there you just aint looking!! Cheap deals on Thai hotels can be had on agoda.com but i can recommend the A1-Royal Cruise Hotel on Beach Road Pattaya.

I second the recommendation for the bar atop Lebua @ State Tower... just remember no shorts and if wearing jeans they should be decent ones.

Is staying on the other side of the river the Hilton had a nice bar.

Ohja, there is another nice rooftop bar called Vertigo on top of Banyan Tree Hotel. They have dresscode as well.
I would not recommend to have dinner there, its not an absolute must - but having a nice cocktail or glass of wine is worth it. Dinner is quite ok but too expensive and there are much much much better places to have a really good and fine dinner, especially when you want to have thai food!

cabbage and condoms for dinner- nice thai food very reasonable and unique experience- you are given a condom at the end of your meal instead of a mint- the restaurant is in aid of HIV in Thailand. Then head to sky bar@ sirroco- on the 64th floor of the state tower- amazing view over bangkok!!!

then head to bed club if you want to dance.

Main15,

Cabbages & Condoms is not an HIV charity as such - It's origins are all to do with family planning.

I do agree that it's an interesting experience.

A day trip to the Bridge on the River Kwai and the "Death Railway Museum" is worth doing.

Nobody's mentioned Chinatown - awesome food... Barbecued Shrimp to die for... Most of the Tourists cluster round the outdoor tables near the crossroads on the main street, jam in along the gutter thinking they're a bit adventurous, shout to be heard over the traffic noise and soak in the petrol fumes along with their chilli sauce... A much better experience is to be had over the road, left hand side as you come in from Silom direction, 30m down a side street, in what looks like a garage, and up some rickety stairs. It's owned by the same people who operate the outdoor action, food's identical... and probably a tad cheaper too since you'll be the only Falang there. Just ask the guy at the outdoor place, put your hands over your nose and mouth and look like you really want to spend some baht but the environmental challenges are overwhelming - they'll probably escort you there. Early evening is the best time.

Cabbages & Condoms is great, then cross the main road to Cheap Charlies for the cheapest beer in town. It's on a little side street Soi 11 all outside with stools you have to pull off the road when a car comes. No visible 'wildlife' when I was there but it's quirky and worth stopping by if not just to read the signs around the bar!
