Vilamendhoo, Maldives

Anyone been?

Thinking about a 2 week holiday in October.

Very interested in the Maldives, dont want to spend an absolute mint. As a tight Yorkshire Man I am rather worried about being stranded on an island in terms of supply and demand going half board with drinks/ food etc.

Anyone got experiences to share?

Thanks, Jinkster

Just booked 2 weeks all inclusive to Olhuveli Beach Resort and spa for this summer. Nothing but good reviews from everyone I know who has been.

Just hoping it beats benidorm in July.

Been there, done that.

Was there in 2006 for 8 days.

Wife was happy with our place on the beach and the food etc, and gave it an 8 out of 10 .

I was not too impressed with the diving. The dive shop at Vilamendhoo was very "mass market" with poor service at a high price. I managed to monopolise one of the guides and get away from the group dives towards the end of our stay, and that would elevate my overall rating to 5 out of 10.

Overall, not a bad holiday for a week with the wife and kids. Any longer and you will get bored. If you are a diver, I would recommend many other places.

Incidentally, we left our young daughter at home (not alone!), but infact it would have been perfectly safe to take her along.

PM me if you want more.

Maldives

Hi just come back from the maldives,If you have a wad of cash to spend then get a private villa in Reethe Rah absolutely fantastic.
Owned by the one & only chain its about 1hr30 from the airport by boat or 15 min by sea plane.
If your budget doesnt stretch that far, then try Karumba about 15min away by boat.
