Cairo tips and advice?

Can anyone recommend a good/nice hotel in Cairo, handy for the airport etc?
Any other tips or advice on where to go, where to avoid, anything else really?

N/S Cairo

JW Marriot, not far from airport, golf course, nice execrooms & lounge, courtesy bus to downtown. Depends how long you are in town. They can also organise the sightseeing stuff but be careful the drivers they organise will still try and take you off piste so be careful. I think this has been explored before on prune, and I am sure there are better options.

Airport Sheraton was not bad last time I stayed - good choice of resturants so you dont have to take out extra accident cover by braving the taxi's !!!.Movenpick is okay but not as nice as Sheraton

CAI fun place

Grab a case of Stella & place yourself in the middle of Ramses Sq. at early evening rush hr. If you survive the fumes, the noise & the brain hurtz from the Stella, you can say you've LIVED!
