Singapore Opticians

Going to Singapore in a couple of weeks and would like to get some glasses. Have always got them in HK before, were they are good quality, made fast and cheap compared to the UK. Does anyone know anywhere in Singapore that can provide a similar service.

Ta!

There are literally hundreds of them, they will give you the full test, using the latest equipment, for free and usually deliver within 24 hours. Very much like Hong Kong I imagine. My last pair, Tungsten frames, bi-focal, S$250.00, other frames much cheaper. Depends where you are staying in SIN, I use Emperor in the basement of the Parkway Parade shopping centre in Katong, along the East Coast Road.

go and see optics premier located at centrepoint orchard road.

been using them since 1988 and very happy.
usually ready in about seven days or so.

Avoid iGard in International Building on Orchard Rd (next to Shaw Centre) like the plague. My last pair took them 3 attempts to get the right prescription, I ended up going to an eye specialist at Gleneagles in frustration!

My sincere apologies to Rush2112 for his bad experience with Dr Koh Hui Hiang who tested his eyes in 2007. Dr Koh is a registered optometrist with the Ministry of Health in Singapore. She was a lecturer at the Singapore Polytechnic and had trained many local optometrists and opticians since 1995.

Dr Koh joined IGARD in 2007 and was here for less than 3 months. Rush2112 may like to know that the spectacle prescription he obtained from another eye specialist at Gleneagles Hospital is exactly the same as that on his record here in 2006 (done by another optometrist). His problems with the spectacles had been resolved then by following the old prescription.

Dr Koh had been informed about Rush2112's case but she did not reply to my email. Optometrists are registered with the Ministry of Health in Singapore. If there is any complaint regarding individual optometrists, please contact the Ministry of Health directly.
