Heads up CBBC TV 17:30 Monday 20th
Three Air Cadets go flying

Available now on BBC iPlayer

Not sure if CBBC was the correct medium myself.
|
Why wouldn't they show a programme about young people's lives on a channel aimed at young people?
|
What is it, another fantasy/mystery programme?
|
I thought it was an excellent program. Delivered by the right people to the youngsters; CBBC is the only way of getting to that particular generation these days, so only option unless you go on CITV. Whilst certain parts seemed very scripted, how many OCs sit down with every cadet and going through the AEF; more like 'who wants to go flying at the weekend'.
The views of the two youngsters were open and honest, but probably screened before airing, and came across well of what to expect at squadron level and on your first AEF. Well done to both cadets involved. And I hope that Kallen fulfils his dreams of becoming a pilot; aim high. |
Wub, agree but I think the upper end of the target market for CBBC is 12 so there is a strong possibility of having enquiries from those that are too young and having to disappoint them. not sure it would have made it onto a "grown up" channel though.
|
Brokenlink, I agree it wasn't 'grown up' TV material but it was a good piece of PR for the cadets. As ex-squadron commanders my wife and I both enjoyed the programme and despite the current 'pause' in ATC gliding, felt it could only serve as a useful recruitment tool. We join with Pegasus107 in wishing the featured cadets well for the future.

Wub, I'm with you wishing all cadets well for the future despite the (avoidable?) paucity in aviation opportunities for them just now.
