One would presume that the requisite amount of bromide has been added to provide the genuine flavour of air force tea. :D

But of course not as good as T.W.A Tea :)

Black tea from the second pickings (the second flush) in the Brahmaputra valley - it has no equal and is nearly as good in tea bags as it is loose. (Horses for courses )
Fortnums will show you how to get it when it's newly arrived in the UK. It does freeze but then needs careful handling.
I got this in a discussion about decent tea with my advanced flying Instructor while we were doing 4minute holds waiting for another ILS at MCR. He was from Kashmir.

Good point about the effectiveness of the bromide, Goudie - as my no.2 daughter will confirm.

P.S. when I was about 8 yrs old I lived next door to a family called Goudie and I fell in love with Eileen Goudie. But that's another story.

The tea urn at a certain Welsh RAF training base in the airman's mess many many years ago (over 25) and a couple of days the passing out of a certain course, (well you would want to see the results, wouldn't you) was fortified with several packets of laxative, they never saw it coming, but they sure enough felt it....

About a squillion years ago the best buttery bap in the universe could be had at the cafe on Aberdeen Railway Station platform 1, just after you had disembarked from the Mallard steam driven sleeper express from London Kings X but you had to persuade your mum that you needed to eat and you would behave.

Bit tricky, what can I say?

Hey where did you take the photo of the NAAFI teabags??? Ringtons stopped making it last year and I have not found its equal yet! I will try the new RAF tea, but let me know if you have a secret source of NAAFI tea bags!!

I'm afraid that I do not drink tea - I'm alcohol total.

Whilst on a tour at Akrotiri circa 1973, I was detached to Malta with a 56 Squadron 4 ship on an "Airdex"? The one thing I will never forget was the Egg and Bacon Banjoes sold in the NAAFI. I defy anyone to suggest a more fulfilling snack, with a big mug of NAAFI char after a long day on the line. Why is it that great snacks are usually enhanced by the mug/cup of tea that accompanies it?

The trouble is, to misquote Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, "All proper tea is theft."
