Transport rosters

Just a quick question for the Mulit's guys out there. What is your typical roster? How many days a month are you out of the question and what is your month typical made up of? Just intrigued to see the similarities between the RAF world and the civvie side.

Thanks

Things must have improved a lot over the last 15 years if they've now risen to that state - I recall poorly planned chaos on an almost daily basis.

ppljames, the main difference between civilian people-tube driving and military transport flying is that the civilian world mainly flies fixed schedules, whereas military transport flying is far more reactive to operational need.

In the civilian world, they try to put their clever people into sorting out schedules and rosters. Whereas Ascot Ops was often filled with people on 'bad boys' postings or those who had no real idea.

For example, a flight was planned from Calgary to Gander to the UK with about half an hour of flex to remain within the complex FTLs. But this depended on the inbound flight being on time. It actually departed over 2 hours late; Ascot Ops had about 3 hours to tell the crew in advance without breaking crew rest rules. So what did they do - nothing... No 'REVITIN', nothing....
