Flt Lt John Wilkinson 1923-2017

Flt Lt John Wilkinson 1923-2017

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Flt Lt John Wilkinson yesterday, 2 Feb 2017. John served as a Spitfire pilot on 41 Squadron in the latter stages of WWII and later settled in Spearfish, South Dakota.

He had been a very active member of the Association from afar and took great pride in recollecting his service, most notably in the recent release of "The Gentleman Next Door" 28 Oct 2016.

Thank you for posting this. The video, whilst brief, is humbling. Too many of today's generation are simply not worthy of what Flt Lt Wilkinson and his contemporaries stood for, let alone the sacrifices they so selflessly made.

RIP Sir.

Another remarkable man from a truly remarkable generation. We owe our very freedom to them all. Rest in Peace now, Duty Carried Out.
