What? I thought all of the A's were being converted to L's. ?
The plan, revealed by U.S. Richard Blumenthal (Democrat of Connecticut) and confirmed to R&WI by the Pentagon, calls for refurbishing 53 Sikorsky UH-60As divested from the U.S. Army inventory within about two years.

In this report it states that the Blacks Hawks will be upgraded before delivery, presumably to the L standard with some Afghan-specific mods.

I was thinking sand filters and the like, but you're right that this does have a feel of deja-vu and inevitability about it.
