Poppy Pods

FYI

Tile Barn - Poppy Pod Village

We would like to introduce the Poppy Pod Village that is our legacy to Armed Service personnel. These Pods are here in perpetuity to recognise and remember the sacrifices made and faced by the Armed Forces Community.

The wooden camping Pods are sustainable and environmentally friendly with solar panels. The Pods provide residential holiday/respite facilities for service personnel, veterans and their families. The Pod Village has been designed with accessibility in mind, please see the access page for full details.

This project has been made possible with the help of the Armed Forces Community Covenant, the Royal British Legion Brockenhurst Branch and Hampshire County Council.

Ex military and current serving military can use for free at weekends (max 2 nights) and school holidays (max 4 nights).

School holiday dates are based on Hampshire School holidays only.

Arrival time 4pm, departure time 10am.

Bring up to 4 family members.

Look absolutely brilliant. I know Brockenhurst well (youngest W attended Brockenhurst College) when we lived just outside Lymington. Hope the project goes well

I'd love to know what "sustainable" is supposed to mean with reference to tents.
A "sustainable" roster is one you can keep doing without collapsing with fatigue. A sustainable crop rotation is one that does not wreck the soil long-term. Is a sustainable poppy pod one that you can live in long term then? Or one that doesn't foul the earth it stands on? I suppose it had better be as it is apparently here "in perpetuity" That's a heavy burden, maintaining these things for EVER. But perhaps that's just hyperbole.

Why on earth does it need to be stated that it is "accessible"? It would be fuquall use to anyone if it wasn't.

Mining all those rare earth metals in appalling and environmentally uncontrolled conditions in the 3rd world makes it "environmentally friendly", does it?

I'm sure the facility is a good thing, but the guff used to describe it makes a mockery of the English language.

Isn't it a shame the way we so abuse our language in this silly way?

I'll await the introduction of superior grade pods for officers, serving and retired.

Men’s block has 8 toilets and 8 showers plus urinals.
Acknowledging that the men's showers serve multiple purposes?
