In Memoriam J.T.S,(John)Lewis

Last night I got around to thinking of some Old Friends and remembered John (JTS) Lewis. Ex Chief Test Pilot BAE Filton. One of the finest Pilots I knew, ex ETPS of course. It was he who flew all of the Old VC10's into Filton for conversion into Tankers for the RAF, after they had spent years corroding in a field at Abingdon.
A great man with a great sense of humour.
His coffin bore the simple Inscription. JTS Lewis - Aviator .

Yes, Quite correct, I believe he was for a time the Chief Pilot of the Shuttleworth collection.

A splendid man, and a light aircraft and vintage motorcycle enthusiast as well as the big stuff.

A video of him flying the Shuttlewoth Gladiator below:

I remember him as one of the three Johns - John Captain, John Co and John Eng, who used to flight test the VC10s. Lovely man who was excited just because he was flying one of them.

Happy to let me have some hands on too.
