New badge
Serious question - has there ever been such a thing as a branch badge? I was in the GD Branch and we never had one. True, the RAF Regiment had one, but as any rockape will tell you, the Regiment is a corps, not a branch.

Having found the template, this will obviously take the form of a signed design, a cloth patch, a ties a wooden shield.
Precedents for such formal badges are Command, Group, Formation, and unit crests. Is there any precedent for a branch crest?
As the cloth badges are usually worn on coveralls will scribblies now wear coveralls or store coats?
Without a planned usage how can you create a corporate design? Would all handbrake houses display the branch badge so you know where you are?*

I'm slightly surprised to find myself underwhelmed by all the fuss.
It's a badge, that's all - just like Stations (and of course Squadrons) have, although often miscalled "crests".
Plenty of non-Op Stations - given there is such a thing, as they are all surely part of the support - have badges and have had in the past, without this furore. If you didn't/don't object to - say - RAF Quedgeley or RAF Kidbrooke having badges, why the huff on a branch having one????
(Not sure why anyone would want to advertise the fact tho .......... !!)

It was done back in 1944. The Adjutant on 10 Sqn was very highly thought of by unit aircrew and they designed and awarded him a 'Flying Adjutant' badge - FA in the laurel wreath, and a quill pen replacing the single wing.

Then there are the para wings.
Yes but that's a trade, not a branch. Most wearers would have been in the Eng Branch (or whatever they call it these days) but there were lots of other trades in the branch who didn't wear one. So the question still stands - has there ever been a branch badge before? Para wings similarly a qualification badge.

The 'sparks' badge was worn by Teleg's & wireless ops in Trade Group 11 and the fitters & mechanics of Trade Group 2.
It is nice to see that the Canadian's incorporate the sparks badge in their current line up.
As for others in the RAF that had a badge:

Redo this minus the eyes, then you would have a No Eye Deer badge, that would be apt.

TTN, the only branch badge of which I am aware was Marinecraft Branch but,unlike Personnel which are bound by the unit which they serve, they were akin to an autonomous group within Coastal Command and attached the various Air Forces that they serve.

Trouble is it is not a trade badge or a lapel pin or cloth badge of a quill or mouse, but a Royal badge designed by the College of Arms and aplroved by HMQ. Apart from lapel pins worn by veterans, or car stickers, the cloth badges are worn on flying suits or coveralls by aircrew and some ground crews such as BBMF and Reds.
