RAF Air Loadmaster Association Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance!
The RAF Air Loadmaster Association is holding a service of thanksgiving and remembrance to commemorate loadmasters who have now departed this life.
It will be a poignant occasion, marked by the attendance of a variety of people and groups. This post is to see if anybody from PPRuNe - Military Aviation - would like to attend on the day. Loadmasters, their predecessors Qs and successors WSOps, have served in every theatre of operation since the Second World War on fixed wing aircraft and helicopters.

Will refreshments be in the form of a white box thrown at you on the way out? (Banter)
I should add that I hope you have a successful day in remembering your former colleagues.

Before helicopter crewmen became a 'respectable' trade, first by redeploying surplus air signallers and then others before AQMs, the job of crewman used to be undertaken by ground crew. The advent of the Wessex and Belvedere made the task supposedly more complicated.
I have, I believe, possibly the dubious privilege of being the last member of ground crew to do the helicopter crewman training at Tern Hill - a one week course crammed in to two!!
Can I come to the service????

CG (Teacher- hurt feelings)
joshiebear, I'm sure Avtur was making a wee joke.
I must say that as a young, new transport support pilot a lifetime ago, I thought that the Loadie occupied a particularly dangerous location as platforms went hurtling past with no chance of them stopping (Well, we hoped they wouldn't )
Hope the celebration goes well.
