Syria conflict: 'US expanding air strip' in Kurdish north - BBC News

What kind of use would a 1300 metre runway be put to use for beside Hercules muniton deliveries as mentioned and does this mean some form of escalation by the US?

Suitable for a C-17.

C-17 Globemaster III > U.S. Air Force > Fact Sheet Display

And they have 2 brigades worth of heavy vehicles, including MRAPS, artillery and helicopter gunships sitting in Kuwait due for delivery to the Kurdish peshmerga this month.

Two Kurdish Peshmerga Brigades to Be Armed and Trained by US in January
