As he lost his coat what was the first place, after the service, where he might have taken it off? Did they go to the Special Forces Club in London?, perhaps the SAS Association can help?

Seems the story has moved on, but in a somewhat, and appropriately, confused way:-

SAS veteran who lost medals at remembrance event with Prince Harry has been reunited with them | Lincolnshire Echo.

The miniatures have been recovered, though the full sized ones are still missing? Almost a rerun of the earlier thread of an RAF veteran at the BC memorial near Lincoln losing his medals, again found nearer his home rather than his destination. I have a feeling that there will be future threads of a similar nature as dementia hits otherwise mobile veterans.
