With the 2% commitment, Defence has joined the hallowed ranks of the 'protected' budgets alongside Health, Education and International Development.
But not just "Spooks various" coming under defence spending, but I understand in a further bit of "creative accounting" Service pensions will start to be paid from the Defence Budget .......

Why? By all accounts the carpets, curtains and soft furnishings were absolutely fabulous! (If a trifle expensive!)
