F-105 in USAFE and ANG service

I am hoping to contact pilots and ground crews who flew or fixed the Thunderchief during service with USAFE and the ANG. Any help would be much appreciated.

There's the odd RAF bod as well, who flew them on exchange service.

F-105

Thanks guys,

I am only interested in USAFE and ANG F-105 people, not AFRes.

Who on earth would be? Unless of course they've got into trouble yet again...

Thought that I would put this F-105 story on this thread so that it would be saved. Came as a comment from a reader on a different website about a different subject. Wouldn't want it to be lost though....

"The F-105G used water injection to get enough thrust for takeoff. Checklist includes pressing a tiny drain button momentarily to confirm the tank is full. It often sticks, so most didn't press it to avoid draining the tank. At a base unfamiliar with the aircraft, the ground crew accidentally used the contaminated JP-4 trailer instead of the demineralized water trailer. The check would have discovered this. Instead, when the water injection was activated after lighting the afterburner for takeoff, 36 gallons of JP-4 was sprayed into the front of the engine. The crew was lucky to survive the fireball."

On a related note, does anyone know where the F-105 from the RAF Croughton gate has gone? It enlivened my commute until a couple of months ago. Hopefully for new paint rather than razor blades.

Steve - the Croughton F105 has been broken up, along with the F100D. Too sad.
