Should I laugh or cry?

Qatar buys Rafale:

Cue picture of GR4 landing in Scotland. And journalists wonder why the public don't think too highly of them?

Well, maybe they just missed out the caption...

Yet another state has bought yet another purported Gen 4 plus aircraft. Others express bemusement or outrage at their over priced offerings not being accepted - whilst at the same time spending billions on Gen 5. In the meantime, we - as professional aviation journalists - would like to show you the aircraft that has fought in just about every war since the Falklands and, whilst not exactly high end, is all you'll need for quite a few years to come.

But in the meantime toddle off and blah on about air-to-air this and threat that and justify as much spending on whatever you fancy.

I think they just left it off the final copy.

I hope they did leave off the caption, something along the lines of "GR3 I mean GR4 to be purchased by Qatar because they know the difference between quality and reputation, and shiney toys".

But I suspect it was a careless error.

Nice try Orca - I admire your loyalty but no chance that that was the issue here. Sloppy journalism plain and simple.

Much as I admire the machine and it's crews old chap, I have no real loyalty to any twin seat, land based type!

I think you're right by the way!

As you showed, Whenurhappy, it's not just journos that get aircraft types wrong.

Is the thread about people getting aircraft types wrong or the fact that someone bought Rafale?

A thread merge with the current Rafale thread might be in order.

And for Canada!

(Sauf, peut-être, ils décident d'acheter le Gripen JAS 39 E/F!)
