Check the comments at the link. There was a lady flying Chinooks in Desert Storm who paid the ultimate price. I'd call that flying in Combat, wouldn't you?
MAJ Mari Rossi-Crayton was KIA during Desert Storm while flying a CH-47 in combat
Just because that insufferable McPeak spoke for the Air Force and its issues doesn't quite tell the hole story.
