Just witnessed the oddest "airshow" I've ....

seen, and I've seen a few..
Was reading a book when I heard the unmistakable roar of a FJ over the roof of my hotel in Legian, Bali. (Very built up area 1 k from the ocean maybe 5 k from Denpasar airport). Rushed out to the balcony in my jocks as you do, to see 2 Su-30's doing low level passes and tight turns around the cranes and over the rooftops of the hundreds of hotels in the area. Probably 7-8 passes in all. Great to watch, only in Indonesia!
Brightened up my day...
Cheers

Was 12.30 pm. I figure either a high ranking IAF officer staying locally and requested a beatup or the Indo's are stirring up the Aussies haha!

Sukhoi jet squadron readied for transfer of Bali Nine death-row convicts | The Jakarta Post

The Indonesians do tend to go OTT sometimes, when the services get involved. I worked at IPTN for a while in the '90s. on one occasion there was to be an air raid practice and the air force buzzed the factory & airfield with several F-16s. Defeated the whole object, as most people ran up to the roof to watch the flying!

Bollocks

The Sukoi's have nothing to do with getting those guys to Java. Since when do you need a FJ escort to transport convicts to another location.........?
