Early Eurofighter display

Apologies for posting in this section, mods feel free to move as you wish.
Been having a discussion on another site about the Eurofighter.
I mentioned seeing it display at North Weald, pre 2000. The commentator announced that a passing Eurofighter had contacted the tower and offered to do a couple of passes etc. Offer was accepted and display completed. Apparently this was around the time the North Weald displays stopped, but I'm being told I'm talking BS as the Eurofighter did not display that early on. Anyone able to confirm?

The industry development aircraft (DA) were certainly doing displays in 2000 and much earlier. They were certified to carry smokewinders for display purposes quite early on as I recall, in the mid/late 90s.

Customer aircraft deliveries did not start until 2003.
