It is believed to be a post-war photo, aircraft on occupation duty in Japan.

Probably not too far post-war.
The US added the red bar back to the national marking in Jan 1947, so pic probably late 1945 or 1946.

Somewhere I have a photograph of some Mustangs around an airfield in which examination of the various nose arts reveals one proclaiming:
