RIP Bill, spent a fantastic morning interviewing Bill at his home near Bristol. The day before we'd interviewed a Lanc bomb aimer, who had turned out to be Johnny Johnson, a Dambuster! We thought it couldn't get any better, but then we met Bill. Bill was a real gent and after his wartime experiences became a confirmed Christian. He had a charmed life and spent most of it with his wife Bertha who he loved deeply. Bill was shot three times, two blue on blues and once to enemy action. The last time was in 1945 when an American Mustang driver mistook Bill's 56 Squadron Tempest for a 190. Lovely chap, he will be missed. Lest we forget.

Echo all of that! RIP, Bill. Spent a day with him in Clevedon, listening to his experiences. Lovely chap with one hell of a story to tell. So modest, too! His being shot down during the battle of Britain, incredibly lucky to have survived it. I was enthralled and thrilled to have met one of the heroes from that time.....
