Rumour has it (well, this is a rumour network) that this John Arthur Jones character is the sole local resident complaining, and has corralled a few easily-led types to sign up. The residents in the local village have always been supportive of the RAF, even during night-flying season. They are also very aware that flying is far less intensive than in previous decades, and far less invasive nowadays due to double glazing.

Google etc will reveal that Mr John Arthur Jones has enjoyed a "colourful" past, predominantly less than above board. One well reported trend was turning down multiple planning applications from local residents while approving his own very non-traditional home and holiday log cabins, allegedly all while he was in charge of the Anglesey Planning Department. For information, his property is on the approach of runway 22, should you wish to carry out a max-rate climb-out to avoid it. 😉

The 'claim for damages' appears to be a bit of smoke-and-mirrors. Probably heard that action was going to be taken against himself and decided to try and get in first.

With regard to alleged endangerment of aircraft by trying to blind aircrew, I firmly believe a long stretch of custodial time would be an appropriate punishment. In this case in particular, the longer the better.

Steady. We don't know what he did yet. No one has mentioned the L word. So what did he do? Wave a torch at them?

One could be tempted to think he's a bit of a tosser, though.

Mr Jones said a claim for compensation of more than £1m had recently been submitted to the Ministry of Defence in London after residents complained about low-flying aircraft over their properties.
How long has Valley been a training base??

Mr Jones had (allegedly!) been using a laser to dazzle the aircrew when night flying at Mona.

We Welsh would call him a 'pen ol' (sp). It would compliment your assessment.

No Courtney, in legal speak, we don't know what he did yet. But after serving four years on the island, I can imagine.

Man Guilty Of Endangering RAF Jets

A 66-year-old man has been found guilty of shining powerful lights at RAF jets.

John Arthur Jones caused dangerous distractions to pilots flying over his house in Bodffordd, Anglesey.

They were training in Hawk jets flying out of RAF Mona.

I look forward to a sentence that doesn't involve doing 50 hours gardening at an Old Folks Home, but something a bit more substantial.

If and hopefully he is sentenced to time at Her Majesties pleasure, it's a pity that its not at that little place in Colchester who are reputedly very succesful at attitude adjustment.

The judge has told him that wrt sentencing, he should not read anything into the fact that he has been granted bail in the interim. I hope he gets 12 months.

I recently heard a story about the military prison at Colchester, the gist was- Radio York (very left-wing) and a phone-in listener bemoaning the fact that as a prisoner in one of HM prisons he had to slop out his toilet facilities, which was clearly very inhumane. Ex RN Able Seaman phoned in immediately to describe to the BBC man what happens in Colchester where he spent 6 months. "With the hardest man in the Navy". Both said that there was no way that they would ever offend in anyway again. It was a punishment and rehabilitation, it works!. BBC man said he could not broadcast these views because of the swear language used.
Adele can get away with it, but not the military!

This man has used his cllr position to tread over everyone and everything that's got in his way; being ruthless to individuals who spoke out. Allegedly. Mind yer fingers, clang!
