General Questions

There's been quite a lot of Typhoon activity recently from Warton. Just wondering what kind of things they'd be typically up to on test flights, just seems a bit strange they're flying over built up areas when they have the Irish sea to play over, not that I'm complaining.

Also, would these and other RAF Typhoons typically fly with their A-A radar switched on to reduce the chances of mid air accidents?? Or are they only used for specific intercepts?

I appreciate some info may be classified, just generally interested.
