Bawtry and 1 Gp Met. reunion
About 35 ex-Met. folk who served in 1 Gp stations and 1 Gp HQ got together in Doncaster last Monday, organised by Tom Besford.
Inevitably nobody knew everybody, but those spotted included Dave Richardson, Brian Laird, John Hunter, Dave Taylor, Peter Jackson, Bob Ward, Bob Rust, Graham Vlacho and your correspondent. Apologies to the names omitted ..... knew the faces ...............
There was a good turn-out of the Bawtry beauties but, regrettably I knew them not because they had all left Bawtry by the time I arrived.
[Bill Giles of TV fame once said he had arrived at Bawtry for a month's attachment aged 19 and left 4 weeks later aged 29, such was the nature of his experience. Dunno what he meant].
Bawtry Hall is up for sale again. Whip round, anybody?
