825 Naval Air Squadron Commisioning
825 Naval Air Squadron will be holding a commissioning in October 2014 at RNAS Yeovilton. It will be the AW159 Wildcat HMA.2 training squadron and will also be hosting some small ships flights.
To that end we are trying to find personnel who served on 825 NAS whether it was during WWII, Korea, the Falklands or any other period its history.
If you served on 825 NAS or know anybody that did and can put them in touch with us we would be very interested to hear from you.
Please contact

Sorry, should have said I have already sent the same request to both FAAOA and FAAA to put it on their internet media. The time period is probably too short to make it into their printed media.

You commission/decommission equipment, you form and disband the personnel. ie a ship is commissioned, the ship's company is formed.
We had a long debate about this when we Transitioned 846 NAS from Sea King to Merlin (We weren't allowed to disband the Squadron in case it never reformed)

Yes you can commission a Naval Air Squadron, it is the terminology used in the BR on the subject.
seadrills, sorry to hear that it was the worst Squadron you ever served on. I would hope that this incarnation of 825 NAS will be better than your experience of it. When did you serve with the Squadron?
825 has an illustrious history, including but not limited to a torpedo hit on the Bismarck, a VC in the Channel Dash, the Boyd Trophy for operations in Korea and a DSC in the Falklands for the RFA SIR GALLAHAD rescue. It also had a number of renowned aviators that have served over the years. As we create the Squadron we want to capitalise on our history to help build our unit identity and Esprit de Corps.
