Help to honour the memory of a Fylde coast war hero?

Funeral plea for heroic D-Day airman - Blackpool Gazette

Sidney Marshall, 90, died at home in Caryl Road, St Annes, on June 16.
The former Rear Gunner has few relatives, if any, to attend his service.

St Annes undertaker Eddie Jacobs is now asking for Armed Forces personnel – past and present – together with members of the public, to attend Mr Marshall’s funeral at Lytham Park Crematorium on Friday, July 4.
Mr Jacobs said: “Sid is survived by elderly brothers and sisters but has no immediate family of his own.

If previous experience is anything to go by I'm pretty sure there will be a good turnout, I certainly hope so anyway.

Hope they make enough ham sandwiches

Thank you very much everyone who came to the funeral today.
Also we extend our thanks to all the RAF association flag holders.
Also to the Royal Air Force represented by personnel from RAF Marham. Many thanks gents.
Also thanks to all who made the journey that could & for the thoughts of those who couldn't.
Shame the weather was a bit pants!

Sid got a good send off.

Rest in peace.

Trevor Marshall.
