Karen has just passed the £2,600 mark and her 100 donation (with money coming in from as far away as Bastion). Less than 24 hrs to go until the big shave. If one of the Red Arrows can chip in, I'm sure there are a few more generous souls out there...

Cracking the £3,000 mark would simply amazing and a worthy target.

Thank you for supporting my family.

The deed is done! Though there is still plenty of time to add your support, if you so wish so.

Thanks (yet) again to every one who has donated.

Nick …

We’ve never met, but I just wanted to say that my thoughts are with you and your family at this time. It’s very difficult to find the right words to write or say in such circumstances as nothing appears to come even close to being adequate. I do know, however, the value and comfort that good support brings to those who need to remain strong in the future.

Coff.

CoffmanStarter,

Thanks for your thoughts. Generally you just try to get on with life, being ill is a full time business between, doctor's, hospitals, hospice etc. The worst bit is not knowing what's coming next, my cancer isn't as aggressive as most, just very very persistent.

Since my final cycle of chemo I haven't been able to drive due to myocolonic seizures (mainly at night) as some other neuro symptoms which are driving my wife mad :o). Apart from that I'm generally OK day to day, just very prone to infections and tire easily. The big worry is if I get an infection they can't get rid off, my neuro symptoms get worse or it spreads to my spine. Realistically, the doctor's can't give me any sort of timeline beyond "it's not if but when".

Oh top tip, don't take your wife grave shopping the day before your wedding anniversary. It's not considered romantic, even if you do buy her a cup of tea and some cake!

Once again, thank you ll for your support of my family and kind thoughts.

Nick

Nick.

I don't know you, nor do I recall reading much of your posts, but that is the nature of an (almost) anonymous forum. Putting that to one side, your recent posts tell me almost all I need to know about your character & the type of person you are, especially at a time like this.

Pprune is full of people from all walks of life and a multitude of life experiences.Someone, somewhere, will know exactly what you are going through and can offer encouragement, support, an unbiased opinion, and just good old fashioned experience.

I found that after a near death experience during the Black Saturday bushfires, the opportunity to vent on here was a welcome distraction to the turmoil spinning around my head. I received support from people who I had previously had sharp words with (pick any political thread & you'll understand!), and I also made contact with other volunteers on Pprune. Now, not for one minute can I, or would I, compare my experience with what you are facing but I just wanted you to know that Pprune is the anonymous family you can turn to when you feel the need.

I can't access the website from here but, if I cannot donate directly, I will donate to one of the local charities on your behalf!

Take care & enjoy your time.

A big thanks to the Worshipful Company of Pewterers. They have just donated £250 :o) I'm flabbergasted, especially as I left the Sqn a couple of years ago. Hosting all those visits was well worth the effort!

Just goes to show that the various Worshipful Company Associations are well worth investing the time in.

By the way we're up to 183% now and the £4,000 mark is creeping ever closer!

Apologies for bumping this up again, but Karen has just passed the £4,000 mark; with a lot of help from the Pewterers' and 3(F) Association!

We are just simply humbled by all the all the donations that have been made and the difference it will make to the Rainbow Centre.

Thank you just seems so inadequate.........

Wallah

So sorry to hear of your current challenges and very, very humbled and inspired by your determination, humour and lack of self-pity.

Don't forget that the RAF Association and RAF Benevolent Fund are here for you and your family as you face each challenge as it arises and will still be here long after the biggest challenge of all to help to look after and care for your family when you are not able to do that. It's not all about money (but of course it is an option if you/your family need it) but we aim to provide Friendship, Help and Support to all serving and retired personnel, should they need or want it.

You are clearly being incredibly well supported by the Rainbow Centre (thank you) but we're also here to help......just give the RAF Association HQ a call on 0116 266 5224 and they can put you in touch with your local Welfare Team.

It would be an honour and privilege to be of some help.

Keep fighting!

Agatha
