Question for Senior Members?

I have been researching a wartime Canadian aircrew member. I believe that he was a navigator/observer on 424 Sqdn.
He was trained at: No1 ITS; No10 AOS; No6 BGS & No1 ANS. Can anybody tell me what these were & their location. I assume that the 'S' is school.

I have tried GOOGLE but with no luck. Probably asked the question the wrong way!

You are in luck; I was researching fatal Canadian Anson accidents a few months ago. No 10 AOS (Air Observer School)was at RCAF Chatham, near Miramichi, New Brunswick. I will get more for you tomorrow.

I would expect ANS = Air Navigation School. This would fit with AOS. ITS might be Initial Training School or Squadron?

..and some of us are grateful to be called a Gentleman, even if we are part-timers at best

I think that link I gave you leads to everything you need.

No 1 Initial Training School, 26 weeks, Toronto, ON
No 10 Air Observer School, 8 weeks, Chatham, NB
No 6 Bombing & Gunnery School, 4 weeks, Mountain View (near Trenton),ON
No 1 Air Navigation School, 4 weeks, Trenton, ON

Chatham, NB is only a day's rail journey from Trenton,so this makes some sense.

1 ANS later moved to Rivers, MB, which is a heck of a long way from Trenton for the final 4 weeks (especially as he would probably have shipped out from Quebec for Europe shortly afterwards), but Air Forces have done stupider things*
The move date was around May 1942, and 424 Squadron was formed at Topcliffe on 15 October 1942.

*I mean, they hired me for Gawd's sake!
