Swedish Historic Flight Flypast

Not something the RAF could replicate - no Torndo, no Phantom, no Lightning, no Javelin, we’d have skipped from the Typhoon back to the Hunter; and then skip over the Venom and Vampire to get back to where the BBMF can be considered.

Not bad for a country with a population of 10m

Not many countries can match this. RSwAirforce historic flight, the parade for the King 50y of service. Gripen, Viggen, Draken, Lansen, Tunnan all SAAB!

Not something the Swedish Air Force can do either - it's a private organisation
Four aviation enthusiasts started the business in 1997 and since then the number of aircraft and members has steadily increased in number. The business is managed by a board authorized by the Swedish Transport Agency and the work is carried out on a voluntary basis by certified pilots and technicians, most of them with an air force background. The aim is for the aircraft, which are civilly registered, to be painted and equipped as at the time they flew in the Air Force.

A good thing too. BBMF & RAFAT have justification. Keeping a load of obsolete jets airworthy at public expense would be ridiculous.

Some might argue that's exactly what RAFAT has now become.....

Ironically in a 100 years we will still have WW1 aircraft. Still have the inter war years. Still have WW2. Maybe a few cold war. There won't be many from the 80's forward. The electronics and support required just isn't viable to maintain them.
Can't imagine a civilian group maintaining a fly by wire modern jet.
