Serbian AF, bailout today

Today at around 11:25 local, Major Tomas Janik flying J-22 Orao ground attack airplane during a routine training flight bailed out 50 km from Belgrade over small village. Reason for bail out is not known yet but bird strike and ingestion is suspected.

Tomas suffered broken leg during ejection process and is now recovering from the trauma at the military hospital.

He rode the plane in very low in attempt to avoid populated areas and small villages and managed to eject just seconds before crash while pointing the plane in filed between road and water channel.

He was picked up by the SAR team minutes after ejecting and was helped immediately after landing by local villagers

He ejected using a Martin-Baker Mk10Y-LB.
