If Saudi Arabia Gets Nukes.....Then What?

Even if the Saudi's obtain old tech Nukes and put them on old tech Missiles....how does that alter the balance of power in the Middle East?

This came up about 3 months ago -there's a thread somewhere. Several seemed to think the Saudis had a few nukes with their name on tucked away in Pakistani silos. This makes them ready for delivery in a few hours, but allows them to deny having any. Pure speculation, of course

As to the balance of power - it just ensures it if/when the Iranians get nukes (Those Shias & Sunnis, they're just such good mates), or the Israelis look like threatening the Sauds.

In 1979 an American "recon" satellite detected the characteristic double flash of an atmospheric nuclear explosion near some island thats 1000 miles SE of South Africa. Did South Africa manage to build and test a nuke?

Yes, it was a joint Israeli/SA cooperation which allowed Israeli to test their nukes. SA destroyed their entire infrastructure and plans and the lead engineers left the country before the demise of the old regime. Some things were considered too valuable/sellable to hand over.

Interestingly, iIRC, the Saudi missile sites require launch pads aligned with markings towards the direction of launch which are visible by satellite. Their sites have two sets. One set aligned towards Israel which are faded and I unmaintained - the second set aligned on Iran bright and shiny.

A point being made perhaps......

MPN11 - if it's sleep you want, you might wish to take a vacation on the International Space Station for the next 10 years or so...

This is pretty old news to be fair and reckon the day they start transporting them from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia then strange things start happening courtesy of the people who don't exist.

Course if it goes off just after delivery ............ah well.

I think joining Al Qaeda would give you a longer life span.....
Not a job I figure you would hang around and get a long service award.
