A junior ACO or pilot will make less than a senior AEA. The pay scales in the RAAF are determined by your qualification and your time in the service. It's all on the ADF website. Until oct 2009, ACOs topped out at the highest pay group (pg10). ACOs in this group are paid the same as senior pilots. However aircrew joining after Oct 2009 Will not reach the highest pay groups unless they are promoted. This will breed a lot of resentment in about 10 years time, when we have aircrew doing the same job on the 'legacy' pay scheme earning significantly more than those on the new scheme.
Shack, this forum creaks with threads bemoaning the one-way loyalty street; or the breaking of the covenant. If this kid is good enough, why shouldn't his first concern be, "What's in it for me?"

Because that attitude will get him nowhere in his chosen career.
Should we not all aspire to be greater and less selfish? There are enough around who do that.

Thinking about the money will get you no where?
It doesn't matter if I think about the money I still like the job. I wouldn't just sign up for a job for 6 odd years and not consider the money.
Plus you get asked at your assesment day how much you are going to make and your allowances.
