BBC news:

An RAF Tornado has crashed in Argyll, police have confirmed. The plane is understood to have come down on a hillside near the Rest and be Thankful at Arrochar - about two miles to the west of Loch Lomond.
The plane is believed to be from RAF Leuchars, in Fife. No civilians are thought to have been hurt.
There are no details on the condition of the pilot and navigator. Strathclyde Police were alerted to the incident at about 1145 BST on Thursday.
An ambulance spokeswoman said two crews were at the scene.
A specialist operations team was also on its way.

Let's hope Messr's Martin and Baker are presenting two more ties soon

Aircraft are replaceable - people are not

Hope the crew got out safely

I have been sat watching sky news for the last hour. Absolutely no mention os a safe ejection or indeed any ejection. It has just been on again as I type saying as yet we do not know about the safety of the crew. There are no awards on this site for being first on with duff gen. If a member of the extended family read that comment on this thread and the outcome is different you will have hurt somebody very badly. I suggest a rapid use of the delete function.
As a loved one who was until mere moments ago waiting for a call(have poured myself a large glass of wine for my nerves), yes you never believe in a safe ejection until it's come through official channels. In fact, I never believe that the reporters have even got the type right until I hear otherwise.

As far as we've been told, there is absolutely no confirmation either way if they banged out safely. So it would be helpful if comments on crew being safe and well were restrained until official ones are made.

No thoughts needed for me. My husband is safe. My thoughts go to the other families, and I pray there will be no knock at the door. The people who haven't heard yet are the ones who still need positive thoughts.

Neeps, Yours is good news indeed, but does this mean that there have been two separate incidents?

Hope the Tornado guys are safe and well.

Neeps, glad all is well. I'm hoping one of my pals wasn't back seating today.

I think we need a little clarity -this site is a 'rumour' one and effectively I wouldn't put any more credence on what's posted than any other forum.

The official channels exist to do exactly what they are supposed to - provide accurate information and support as and when needed. The situation with this aircraft is exactly as posted by the BBC - i.e a Tornado down -therefore all we can do is hope for the best.

Very true Riley, however i think its important that people realise the potential consequences of their comments and the pain they may cause. I am sure people are not making these comments with any malice and are all as eager for information, but please think before you speak

Here's hoping for some good news soon

Fingers Crossed

Lets hope the crew are safe. As stated before, aircraft are replacble, crew are not.

I lost my father in 1973 only some 15 miles from the same spot..
