Military AircrewA forum for the professionals who fly the non-civilian hardware, and the backroom boys and girls without whom nothing would leave the ground. Army, Navy and Airforces of the World, all equally welcome here.
My condolences and thoughts to all on 43 Sqn, as well as the friends and family of the crew. I have raised a glass to you guys tonight from Lyneham, I used to fly at Leuchars, I knew many of 43 Sqn very well.
Thoughts and condolences to all involved, their families, friends and colleagues. And to all those in the Sqn and those serving past and present who knew, dined, wined, socialised and befriended them, and their families.
Very, very sad news indeed, from the moment I found out this afternoon it's all I've thought about, absolutely gutted.
I'm non-serving but work in aviation and through a good friend was fortunate enough to have a tour round Leuchars just 4 weeks ago and and experience what goes on at the front line. These men and women are absolute professionals at the very top of there game, but sadly, today God took two of his best back.
God bless you, and my sincere and deepest condolences to all family, friends and everyone at Leuchars.
Lying on the beach at Lunan Bay yesterday, thinking how good they looked as they recovered to Leuchars. Then heard the news in the car on the way home. Bollocks. From the Loganair base at Dundee, regards.
Flight is freedom in its purest form,
To dance with the clouds which follow a storm,
To roll and glide, to wheel and spin,
To feel the joy that swells within.
To leave the earth with its troubles and fly,
And know the warmth of a clear spring sky,
Then back to earth at the end of the day,
Released from the tensions which melted away.
Should my end come while i am in flight,
Whether brightest day or darkest night,
Spare me no pity and shrug off the pain,
Secure in the knowledge that i'd do it again.
For each of us is created to die,
And within me I know,
I was born to fly.
RIP.

ex XV.

It's always a shock to hear of these events and sometimes we can just put them behind us and move on but having served on 43(F) and with the possibility that I may have worked alongside these fine gentlemen the shock becomes stunning.
RIP gents.
Thoughts with the families left behind. I am certain that the Squadron will do all it can to ease your pain in these very difficult times.
Still don't know if I knew or have ever worked with the crew, but deep down it doesn't matter, it still hurts. Deepest condolences to the family's, 43 and Leuchars.
