Russia: Poland risks attack because of US missiles

And I thought the cold war was over.

MOSCOW - A top Russian general said Friday that Poland's agreement to accept a U.S. missile defense battery exposes ex-communist nation to attack, possibly by nuclear weapons, the Interfax news agency reported.

Does this mean we can all go back to Germany, buy tax free cars, get 10l of petrol at 4DM a time, buy beer at 30pf a pint and work hard-play hard?

Way off thread, but STORYTIME.

CinC RAFG had a Devon pilot who bought himself a brand new Merc, duty free.

After a fortnight, this pilot noticed the chrome exhaust pipe on the Merc was a bit sooty, "Hmm, burning rich" he thought "better go back to the dealer".

One lunchtime, he returns to the dealer only to find Herman, the only guy in the workshop. Herman doesn't speak the English.

After much gesticulation and pidgeon English/German, 'der exhustpuffen swartz' etc. Eventually Herman goes "Ahh, verstehen, com bak at 5, ja".

Matey goes back at 5pm to discover Herman has painted his brand new Merc's brand new chrome exhaust pipe black!!!

RAFG, the memories!!!!!

The paranoid bear seems to rumbling a fair bit at the moment.

Surely as defensive weapons the missiles are only a threat to the USSR, I mean Russia, if they decide to start throwing instant bottled sunshine around?

I believe that the Russian view is that the defensive missiles reduce the value of their Nuclear detterent and hence are a destabilising force.

Either that, or the American running dogs are building up the defenses of their allies to allow them to launch a sneak nuclear attack on the worker's paradise... er... selfless, brave, Russian people.

and 10 interceptors degrades the running nuke deterrent by how much? 1 SS18 maybe. This is all so much BS for internal consumption.
