Amusing prayers @ dining in nights!?

Gents,

I am looking for an entertaining prayer to use at a Sqn dining in night this Friday! If anyone can help me out with one that you have used or heard in the past it would be much appreciated!

Cheers!

No help for an evening do, but used at a practice lunch for Princess Margaret at Odious - padre stood up, said 'Bless this bunch as they crunch their lunch' and sat down again.

The above link should answer your question - and probably most of your prayers!

I had to do grace at a dining in lunch a while back, pulled it straight off there, nobody seemed to mind.

Have you asked your Stn padre? They can often come up with something amusing and relevant to your location and the event.

Not so much a prayer, more a toast:

"Here's to the best years of our lives,
Spent in the arms of other men's wifes.

Our Mothers."

A few years ago, the Daily Telegraph reported that an RAF JO (Mr Vice presumably) came up with the following when stitched at the last minute to say grace:

Rub-a-dub-dub, thank God for Grub!

Some Hae Meat but Cannae Eat
Some Wad Eat But Waant It
But We Hae Meat
And We Can Eat
Sae Let The Lord Be Thankit!

(The Selkirk Grace - often attributed wrongly to Robbie Burns)

try this one

Mate,

"We thank you God, for fine things in life,
Good food, good wine and prospective wife,
May the tables before us reflect the perfect maid,
Immaculately prepared, silent, and well laid"

Its never failed. Deliver it with firm stones and it'll go down a treat. I too am going to a dinner night on Friday and I hope its yours, dont let me down!!

Great one heard in the snows of Norway many years ago:

Gentle Jesus so devine,
Who once turned water into wine,
Please forgive these foolish men,
Who're about to turn it back again!

Edible candles, Bodge tape black dickie bows, -20 outside the tent......Ahhhh

In a similar vein;

Bless these sinners as they eat their dinners.
