Saudis Agree to Reopen Airspace with Qatar
From Al-Jazeera:
BREAKING Saudi Arabia, Qatar ‘agree to open airspace, land and sea border’ Kuwait foreign ministry announces Saudi Arabia would open its airspace, land and sea borders starting Monday evening.
4 Jan 2021
Saudi Arabia, Qatar agree to open airspace, land and sea border, Kuwait’s foreign ministry announced on Monday.
The state-run Kuwait News Agency reported the announcement, saying that Saudi Arabia would open its airspace, land and sea borders starting Monday evening.
In June 2017, the blockading countries – Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt – accused Qatar, among other things, of supporting terrorism and being too close to Iran and severed economic and diplomatic ties.
The four countries imposed a land, sea and air blockade on Qatar.
Qatar has repeatedly denied the allegations and said there was “no legitimate justification” for the severance of relations.
Kuwait has been mediating between Qatar and four Arab states.
“This is very significant in the sense that it is paving the way to the announcement,” Al Jazeera’s Jamal al-Shayyal said.
“One of the pre-conditions the Qataris had was that it made no sense to discuss or sign an agreement as long as it remained under an unjust and illegal blockade.”
Last month, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) said Qatar’s emir was invited to the bloc’s summit meeting next week in Saudi Arabia amid efforts to heal the rifts.
Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received a formal invitation from Saudi King Salman to the January 5 summit meeting of the six-nation GCC.

The Emir of Qatar is attending the GCC Summit today, so is Jared Kushner representing the White House. Reports say Egypt was also invited.
It's expected to be signed an agreement officially ending the blockade today. It might not be a comprehensive agreement, but it's a first and significant step towards normalisation of relations between GCC members.

Trump is leaving and Biden probably is not extremely keen on this BS embargo of Qatar. Therefore nice guy Jared is undoing what was done in a recent past.
If Trump were to remain at 1600 Pensylvania Avenue this most likely would not happen any time soon.
What it doesn't add up is that Al-Jazeera is still alive and kicking. Wasn't it one of demands of the UAE, or Saudi Arabia (can't remember exactly), that the "terrorists", that is to say, the journalists of Al-Jazeera were put on jail ? They were being to much of a inconvinience.

Easy Peasy
Know your facts - Jared did a lot of bidding because the qataris didn’t bail his family out with billions and buy their building. This is a known fact - also Qatar is dropping all charges.
at the end of the day - it’s all a matter of convenience and nothing more. No demands were met by Qatar either

In other news QR is reaching out to the employees let go because of the blockade. Should certainly help with reducing the culling of crews in Doha.
