Stuff been going on in the south for a very long time, they are called abu sayyaf. However, as I watched video a couple days ago of Philippine Army on the offensive, the video clearly showed a soldier yanking down an all too familiar black isis/daesh/isil flag.

The Filipino authorities are now claiming that it was a botched robbery that went wrong.
It certainly looks a lot more sinister than that based on the TV footage, which shows numerous fire appliances and smoke from one of the buildings within the complex.

The complex is across some car parks and a highway from MNL T3.
It was a lone gunman attempting an armed robbery on a casino, the only person directly injured or dead is himself, other injuries sustained were from smoke inhalation or getting caught in the stampede to get out of the place.
It wasn't ISIS and it wasn't a terrorist incident, apparently he only fired shots in to the air.
Right ... Back to living under Martial Law here in Mindanao

The victims, who were discovered on Friday morning, did not appear to have been shot, but were suffocated in the chaos as guests and staff tried flee the choking smoke from a fire, said Bureau of Fire Protection official Tomas Apolinario. A further 54 were injured, some seriously.
The lone gunman, described as a Caucasian with a moustache, was among the dead, having committed suicide by setting himself on fire in one of the hotel guest rooms, the Philippines police said on Friday. His body was found burned beyond recognition, next to a machine gun.

it's definitely him.... burned beyond recognition.
The complex had armed guards, who reportedly ran away when they saw trouble coming.
I have seen this happen myself in Dhaka, when armed guards fled a hotel foyer because a loud bang was heard in the street.
Don't trust the armed guards at hotels to intervene. They dont get paid enough.
