Here comes another 'tax'.
RTA is now charging a 3 Dhs levy on private taxi bookings made with a smart phone app, like Careem or Uber, for rides that originate in Dubai. Doesn't apply if you use their app to book a standard RTA taxi. Nice.

In Abu Dhabi they just blocked Uber and Careem, presumably to make more money from the Government taxis; all the drivers have flooded to Dubai.
So rather than do the same, I guess this levy achieves the point!

It all adds up LL.
Everything the bastards have done to us in the last 5 yrs have been incremental but when you look back it really adds up. Not one item is a big deal but taken all together it is a big chunk change they have stolen from our wallets.

Twinjock, what's your problem, (apart from poor grammar)? It's a levy, a fee, a tax. Call it what you like but it is yet another dent in the disposable income, however small. It's significant if you use these services often, as I do and it's clearly a ploy on the part of RTA (AKA Government) to recoup some of the losses they are experiencing to what is a much better service than they currently offer.
