Drone Closes DXB - again

Drone closes busy Dubai International Airport for an hour | Fox News

The National newspaper yesterday reported some 17 flights were diverted. Mostly to Maktoum but some to Al Ain & Sharjah.
That's a pretty serious disruption.

Anyone know if the drone was taken out of the sky, or just ran out of battery life and thus ceased to be any threat??

There is at least one maker of drones (DJI) that evidently has a installed a system which won't allow their drones to transit/fly into an Airport traffic area. Not sure how it works but that's what they advertise.

Because it has a GPS and an airspace data base.

But you can put a quad-copter together from components very easily and have no such restrictions.
