The new EK leave deal

The new leave deal is out. It looks surprising similar to the old leave deal. I suggest you write to Enry and JA to express your disappointment. Also ask what is going to happen to all the extra you have available.

So...you bid for leave in your top bid months for the year and hope to get a string of days off on one or the other side...they are now effectively telling us this will not happen most likely so to use our leave balance to bid for what I would have had previous as possibly days off! Leave usage instead of days off.....awesome

I, of course, can't see this new deal. but it seems to me it's the same, they are using leave as days off.

Is this not just the normal Ad-Hoc bidding that pops up from time to time.

It is confusing to say the least. This Ad-hoc bidding does not include the months of June and July. Why can only the top 2 bid groups ask for extra time off?
I am not quite sure what they mean.

Did TCAS write this?

an Ad-Hoc Leave Bid Round will open at 1500, 08 May 201
It's not a new biding system per se (until things change!)

Seems as if TC has issued an edict that ROFF days before and after leave are a thing of the past. Apparently all drivers MUST get 42 days leave per year. Lets wait and see how V2.0 of the FCI reads.....

Another appalling attempt with smoke and mirrors. More lies and half truths pedalled out to try and stem the flow.

Or are they trying to butter us up prior to the 10th?

At first I read the "days off prior/after leave cannot be guaranteed" as something for June/July as it was written in the same paragraph.... then I saw the last paragraph...

So in the case where the company has forced a block of 4 or 5 days off, (which is pretty much just using your monthly days off entitlement)....you can't get any days off around it to make it even a respectable week away? Not like office workers who get their five days leave but get a block of nine off? Wow..if that's the case, they're certainly finding new and wonderful ways to drive people out the door.

I am sure the improvements to the package as hinted by JA will be also as impressive. Can't wait.

Can't get no satisfaction

So the way I read it is they are going to trade the roster satisfaction for all for leave satisfaction for a few over the peak period.

Sounds fine until you consider those that have peak leave for the first time in forever and now can't get any days off before or after.

A bit of root cause analysis wouldn't go amiss. Heavy handed management without solving the problems again!

Do we have to be acclimatised at 00:01 of the first day following LVE?

No you don't need to be acclimatised after leave.
If the muppets don't have 4000 emails of complaint because of this we deserve what we get.

When I read this, it had the undertones of the author with a gun to their head.
None of it was written, or thought out, in the guise of what the new DVP-FO had entrusted on his minions. The veiled arrogance of the email is insulting and expected. Sheer amateur hour.

Some of it does not make any sense-
"The total leave award for the leave year cannot exceed 42 days"
So what am I supposed to do with my other 20 days owing??? Are you again, admitting to me in writing that you will not honor my/ our contract?
"By rejecting an offer of leave you accept that you may not get 42 days leave for the year"
4 days a month is not really in the spirit of things, now is it. So again, by doing that, you're honoring my contract are you??
Gear down, flaps twenty just moved another 500 feet higher if they want to pull that ****.

Why do I feel like Oliver Twist asking for more??

As TwinJock has already alluded to, the word on the street is that Sir TC made his displeasure clear that leave balances were growing.

This twist in events raises the question of if there was the capacity to award extra leave from the outset? If there isn't then this extra leave will come at a cost and the price will be our rosters.

Ok I'm confused now. Does it mean they are opening a new leave module to cater for this or do we just add this to what we already have. Why are we therefore waiting until 8th...

As the CRS only looks at your request for days off and checks if they are available and legal, in reality this means that days off cannot be "guaranteed" in any of your 1st and 2nd top bid months, regardless of if you have leave or not.

This unless the system would actually award you the days requested adjacent to leave and they plan to manually remove them, just to have us using up more leave.
