Home to a LGW base.

Just a heads up to one and all, if you didn't already know, the Orange mob are taking type and non type-rated DECs. LGW and AMS mentioned as bases amongst others. If either bucket is full (whose isn't at the moment me thinks!) then potentially an option.
Goodluck.

The only issue for me was that they want to freeze you at LGW for 5 years and only then do you get to join a list for a UK regional base (if that's what you want).

The other thing is them wanting you to pay for the rating (even if you are 330 qualified I am led to believe). I don't want to sound pretentious, but I've worked my damn socks off to get where I am and I think I deserve to have my training paid for me by this stage of my career. That's why Jet2 is the preferred option for most as they at least pay the rating, albeit on a slightly lower salary in the winter when not flying.

Those two factors rule EZY out for me but for anyone wanting to be LGW, or Portugal based it's a nice option. The cost of the rating is paid back through salary deduction I believe.

Once the novelty of 50 sectors a month, monthly transitions, no standby's that are actually standbys, 20 minute bus waits to the crew room, daily raping by LGW security, five 0330 alarms in a row, no share scheme for the first five years, base frozen for the first five years and eating out of a cardboard box for half the salary wears off.....they'll wish they hadn't.

Plus, the vast majority don't want to be bored to tears by yet more ex-EK crew sitting round fireplaces, walking dogs on Brighton beach and drinking red wine. It's what we all do out here! But without the fines!

Yeah, LGW wouldn't be for me for that reason alone.

Think a basing out of BRS does sound mighty tempting though! Shame they will make you wait 5 years to join the list.

Maybe in the future they'll be so short of Skippers they'll offer DECs at base of choice AND pay for the rating. All about supply and demand I guess. And maybe they could bring back the 737 for the guys who like to actually FLY for a living
