Great man. Happen to bump into him many years back in the crew hotel in Manchester and he made time to have an ale with us.
Condolences to the family.
RIP Sir.

Condolences to the family and RIP.
Met him only once as he unexpectedly turned around to go back, I was doing the usual run in a rush to get the paper work done for admin stuff before my flight. I was right behind him. He apologised, looked in my eyes and acknowledged me.
A true gentleman.

I have heard so many great things about him. I wish I had been able to meet him.
My sincere condolences to his family and friends. May he R.I.P.

Isn't the silence from the company deafening...?

The silence is palpable because all of the current managers know they are not half the men that Maurice was and have a quarter of the talent. Embarrassing for them.
Was morale ever even close to,this bad under Mf? Hell no!

Very bizarre that there is no corporate acknowledgement of the passing of an undoubtedly great man and the founder of Emirates Airlines.

Cliff Webster told me once that he was trying to get once-a-year medicals approved for pilots over 40 but wasn't getting anywhere with the GCAA. He told his friend, Maurice, who made one call to His Highness (probably his Highness) and the paperwork came through the next day, just needing signatures!! Now that's influence. Wasta.

I brought his death up the other day on a flight and the F/O didn't even know who he was. Kinda sad, somehow. RIP Sir Maurice.

Leroy.....Leroy was amazing. Did the same job his counterparts do today but with no intimidation, a sense of humour and he made you feel like an adult and a professional. Hope he's doing alright, wherever he is.
