Ek: Sad to see

It's so sad to see the way this once wonderful ship has been steered to far off course in terms of the people that work for it (not just pilots).

With two companies recently having recruitment days on EK's very doorstep and offering reasonable deals especially if you want to go home/fly less/be treated with respect and each of them being attended (even over attended) it really does paint a less than rosy picture for those out there thinking of coming (and the state of mind of those already here).

I have like working for this company and at times (long ago) have felt appreciated. However that was some time ago.

The amount of sackings (or forced resignations), the amount of pilots being called into the office & given warnings for various trivial things (of course there are those that are deserved also).

It is not the vocal minority that is the problem. It's the silent majority that are so unhappy.

If only TC was fully aware I wonder whether things could get better? Maybe he is which would make me sad about the direction this company is going. QF,VS,BA,AA are all much happy airlines but most of us have made thier bed and now need to sleep in it.

Sad times....

Why is it the only way EK seems to be able to manage is through a big stick.Warning letters are given out like confetti. Everyone feels under pressure. The best part I feel since leaving, is not having that underlying pressure, that someone, somewhere, will find you did something wrong.

And the really big problem, I think, is that the only people accountable in the whole company are the flight and cabin crew.

The whole saga is very very sad.

However, it was nice again at the the beach with the dogs today.

Once the game of musical chairs on the 9th floor stops, someone will be left without a seat and held to account for the disorganised and poorly led mess we are now in and I would not wish to be in their shoes when it happens.

All of our senior managers now have multiple reasons to be very, very worried - a situation made worse by the rod they have stuck up their own backs by not being culturally or corporately allowed to admit there is a problem or ask for help how to fix it.

I am very, very happy to be a line pilot now as there is no way I would wish to be associated with what is going down now and with what is inevitably going to happen when a suitable scapegoat is identified.

Oh to be a fly on the wall in STC's office for the next few weeks.

Already identified allegedly, perhaps someone due for retirement?

I'm a bus pilot in a major UK/EU loco and I've followed this debacle for a couple of years now because, for me, it was always a dream move for me to make. Sadly now I could not contemplate making the move and would actively avoid it. The real worrying thing for Emirates in my opinion though is the sheer proportion of people who I fly with who share the same opinion. Where are the pilots required going to come from? Because as far as I can tell nobody is interested anymore. They've already had a taste of this through the mediocre turnout for the latest road shows. Something drastic has to change and heads have to roll.

I'm now meeting a fortunate few who have been able to return home. I remember them leaving 3+ years ago, excited about the longhaul lifestyle, tax free living and quick widebody commands. The end result sounds atrocious. I'm not surprised people, at least from the western world, aren't applying in the numbers that they once did.

There's enough wobblies to fill the ranks. The company just have to 'convince' the regulator to believe their log10 fairytales and pay the higher insurance policy and off they go.

The only thing that will stop the whole scam is what we all don't wish for.
Unfortunately no one and nothing, not even the US big 3 will stop the inevitable.
Just hoping i'm not in the bunk that day.

I was referring to the creative flight logging of a certain region where lots of applications trickle in. Just ask the Fly Dubai recruiters .......
Thus the somewhat sarcastic term.

If the term irritates you, sorry to your being so sensitive on these pages (!).
By the way, my origins have heard worse without any outcry.

What would be 'acceptable' here?
