Emirates Sim eval

Hello all,

I have an upcoming sim eval with Emirates on the 777. Looking for some info on pitch and power settings for various phases of flight during the eval. I've no idea what weight or engine variant to expect for the sim.

Takeoff
Level flight at ~5000ft
Hold
Final Approach

Would also appreciate any general tips you guys think are relevant.

If you are able to maintain level with the speed around the speedbug and you dont see any speed trend vector, then you can consider it as the right powersetting.

Check, mate have you not been reading the WSJ and every other post here?

Unless you are dying to fly 90+ hours each and every month for the rest of your aviation life, through multiple time zones, with little or no leave for extended periods. Or you are actually starving.

Do yourself and your family a favour and have a good long ponder over your next move.

Make your own assessment regarding working for whichever airline, but if you pass the interview process and get offered a job, you will at least have the opportunity of making a choice or getting a job (should that be the major issue).

Interview, assuming it's in a 777 sim at EK, will be in either the 200ER (sim still called the 200EGW - the original designation for the 200ER), Rolls Royce 300 or 300ER.

Slightly rounded data appears below for each, at max landing weight:

200ER
Clean, level flight, +2.5*/67%N1
Level flight, Flaps 1, +6.5*/56%
Level flight, Flaps 5, +5.5*/58%

I have to agree with bogey- it is a sim test not a memory test. At the start your speed and power settings will be all over the place. They expect that, if you have never flown a 777 before. What they want to see is that you are making corrections and learning so hopefully by the end of the sim you are better. That is all. They don't want somebody who can already fly a 777, they want somebody who is capable of learning and improving.

Have a look at the flight simulator 777 mod and fly that a bit to see where everything is if you havent flown something similar before...
Thats what i did and the sim was quite easy after that...

No need to remember any settings just fly pitch and power and see what works!

Seriously? Have you not looked at what guys are saying on here?

If you are coming on a LWOP deal then sure, come for a blast and you are not owned by these guys. If you aren't on LWOP, then you have to be prepared for a long stretch here, and what you will get now, will be what you will get years down range, with the costs here continually increasing faster than anywhere else in the world.

All the guys who live outside a 6 hour flight home, never get home, except for some of your leave, and even then they will roster you a flight right up to your leave and right after your leave, meaning you will not be "home" for all of your leave.

If you are planning to bring your family here, they will lose all that is important in family bonds back home, and you will not be compensated for it.

Don't beleive the documentaries or advertising on this place. Listen to those who are here already. Most of us wish that we had!!!!!!

Not long ago I was in your seat , Check

you would be adversely graded if the checkers realize you are shifting your attention from the speed tape to the engine parameters

They are assessing your general handling skills .. Don't stress it or you are gonna end up flapssly landing with the perfect engine setting , if you know what I mean

It's for the interview eval. I've read the comments about EK. Believe me, I understand that conditions have degraded, but it still beats some jobs out there.

AM NOT SURE, I see what you're saying about general handling skills. I was just looking for some rough numbers to start with, then correct as necessary. Once I have the ballpark power setting, my focus will be on the PFD.

Further to my last, regarding pitch and power settings, if you look carefully, you'll note a trend. Within a small N1 RPM range, the practical power settings for all configurations are much the same. i.e. the RPM for level flight clean is only a couple of % different to Flaps 5 level, a touch less for F20/gear down, down the slope and then a few % more for F30 ion final.

Note that, at those RPM settings, there is very little thrust lever movement between the highest and least-required power settings. Practically, set the thrust for clean and add 2% (barely a tweak) for each of F1 and F5, and a touch more for F30.

In other words, once you have the thrust to suit your configuration, only minor adjustments are required to keep the speed in the ballpark with further changes.

The 777 will always be flown with A/T on, including single engine work. Just learn the pitch attitude for the purpose of the eval.

Thanks again trimotor. It does seem like the whole exercise will be at 55-65%N1.

I'll keep that in mind. After the eval, I'll report on how well the estimates helped.
